As part of our expansion into East London, we are seeking dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants (SEND TAs) to support pupils across a range of school settings.

About the Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. These may include autism (ASD), SEMH, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, and complex or sensory needs.

You may work on a one-to-one basis or support small groups, helping pupils to access learning, develop independence, and feel safe and supported within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing classroom-based and individualised support to pupils with SEND

  • Supporting learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO

  • Implementing individual education plans, behaviour strategies and support plans

  • Supporting emotional regulation, communication and social interaction

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour

  • Assisting with transitions and daily routines

  • Maintaining safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (education, care or youth settings preferred)

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs

  • Willingness to undertake safeguarding and SEND-related training

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Ability to speak more than one language is desirable, but not essential
